Main Street Donates in Lieu of 2020 Holiday Party
MMain Street is a dedicated proponent of supporting local charitable and non-profit organizations. Main Street solicits feedback from its employees annually to determine which charitable organizations Main Street’s employees would like to support. Once selected, Main Street supports these charities with both monetary donations and the support of our people’s time and talents through special "Main Street team projects" and the utilization of our Volunteer Time Off program. Although 2020 brought its fair share of challenges, Main Street is pleased to have continued its ongoing support and relationships with Ronald McDonald (https://rmhhouston.org), Friends for Life (https://friends4life.org/), Star of Hope (https://www.sohmission.org/) and Child Advocates (https://www.childadvocates.org/) this holiday season.In light of the increased COVID-19 cases in the Houston area and around the country, Main Street came to the decision to cancel our annual Holiday Party for 2020. In place of the Holiday Party, Main Street has made special holiday donations to four of our supported charities to assist them in helping others during the holiday season.
Through those donations, we were able to help Star of Hope provide nearly 36 homeless men and women a shower, a safe, clean place to sleep, meals for the day, a fresh set of clothes and someone to help. Star of Hope calls it a “no worries day” and believes it can be the first step toward a better life.
At Ronald McDonald House Houston, no family is ever denied admission to the Ronald McDonald house due to their inability to pay. Main Street’s donation allowed for up to 60 families to stay the night. Additionally, the donation was matched and ultimately provided 120 nights.
At Friends for Life, the donation was used to provide medical treatment to Honey, a dog who needed a back surgery, as well as a tail amputation.
Lastly, our donation to Child Advocates supported the help 15 abused and neglected children exit foster care to safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
Main Street is pleased to provide ongoing support to these charities and looks forward to continuing our commitment to serve the community in 2021.
