Main Street Volunteers at Ronald McDonald Holcombe House
In March 2019, Main Street volunteered at the Holcombe House alongside Ronald McDonald House Houston. For more than 30 years, Ronald McDonald House Houston (rmhhouston.org) has been helping families with seriously ill children stay close together during these difficult times. By providing a “home away from home” while their child receives the treatment they need. The Holcombe House (rmhhouston.org/Holcombe-house/) is one of the four houses Ronald McDonald House has in Houston. It is a home for the for families with seriously ill children who are being treated at a Texas Medical Center. The Holcombe House has 70 private bedrooms equipped with two queen size beds and a full bath. Dedicated volunteers provide frequent meals and family activities for residents of the House.
Main Street catered lunch to the families, residents and staff of the Holcombe House. The event lasted three hours and was supported by 10 Main Street employees who participate in the Main Street Volunteer Time Off (VTO) Program.The volunteers served the food to over 50 families which included preparation and clean-up for the meal.
